Music Video APIs Compared: Five Can Render. None of Them Reads the Song for You.
October 6, 2026 · 6 min read · prices from each vendor's own page on this date
The short version
There are two different jobs: understanding the song, and rendering the video. Most "song to video" APIs do the second one. You send audio and a prompt, and a video comes back.
Rendering costs $0.05 to $0.36 for every second of song. A 3-minute song at 720p comes to about $11–18 with VibeMV, reAPI or BeatAPI.
What none of them hands you is the reading of the song. Where the best moment is and why, every beat and word with its time, what the song is about, and which shot goes on which second.
Songbrain is that layer, for $0.50 a song. Get the shot plan first, then render it with whichever video API you like. If the video fails, you don't pay twice for the thinking.

The stack we'd build
- Songbrain reads the song: best moment, beat grid, lyrics, story, and a shot plan with exact seconds and prompts.
- Your product lets the user pick a moment or a style, and adapts the prompts (characters, brand, look).
- A renderer (any API above, or Kling, Veo, Runway, Luma) turns each scene into video. You cut at the given seconds, and every cut lands on a beat.
Keeping the reading separate from the rendering means you can switch video models without rebuilding your logic. The part users notice, that the video fits the song, stays the same. Songbrain does exactly this for its own AI music videos.
Common questions
Which API turns a song into a music video?+
As of October 2026: BeatAPI (music video API with an editable storyboard), PixVerse VibeMV on fal.ai, reAPI Music Video 1.0, Dayvid (API on its Start and Pro plans) and Compeller (audio-reactive visuals, API from the Pro plan). All of them render video. Prices range from about $0.05 to $0.36 per second of song.
Which API tells me the best moment of a song and what to show there?+
Songbrain. It is an analysis and direction layer, not a renderer: it returns ranked best moments with reasons, a song-wide beat grid, word-timed lyrics, the song's story and a beat-synced shot plan with a prompt per scene, which you can then render with any of the video APIs above.
Can I combine Songbrain with BeatAPI, VibeMV or Kling?+
Yes, that's the intended use. Songbrain's shot plan gives every scene exact start and end seconds and a ready prompt. Render each scene with the video model you prefer and cut at the given seconds, or pass the story and prompts as creative direction to a music-video API.
